Tehran Official Says U.S. Will Be Forced Out of Middle East and Made to “Apologize” to Iran

Senior Iranian lawmaker delivers a sharp warning to Washington as tensions remain high over frozen assets, the Strait of Hormuz and stalled diplomatic efforts.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran intensified on August 21 after a senior Iranian official declared that the United States would ultimately be forced to reverse its policies, withdraw from the Middle East and formally apologize to the Iranian people.

Ebrahim Azizi, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, accused the United States of continuing to freeze Iranian assets and engaging in what he described as acts of “piracy,” according to WANA.

“U.S. officials have repeatedly shown that they do not understand the language of diplomacy,” Azizi said.

He argued that Washington responds primarily to displays of power and predicted that the United States would eventually be compelled to abandon what he described as its confrontational approach toward Iran.

“History has shown that the United States will have to reverse these hostile actions, formally apologize to the Iranian people and completely withdraw from the Middle East,” he said.

Trump Says Iran Still Wants a Deal

The remarks came as U.S. President Donald Trump offered a sharply different assessment of the situation.

Speaking on August 21, Trump said he believed Iran remained eager to negotiate with Washington, although he claimed Tehran was not yet prepared to accept what he considered an appropriate agreement.

“They very much want to negotiate, but in my opinion, they are not yet ready for the right deal,” Trump said.

He went on to describe Iran as facing severe economic and military pressure, claiming that the country lacked sufficient financial resources and was struggling to support its armed forces and security personnel.

Trump also cited extremely high inflation as evidence that Tehran was under mounting pressure.
